Kenai river report

August 24 - It's that golden time of the summer when the crowds slow down a bit and there is silver in the waters ... fish anyway. We're enjoying some good silver fishing although we've seen a bit of a slow down this past week. Actually, the fish seem to be there (we can see them a lot of time) but they are very spooky for some reason. We had an incredible monsoon rain storm one day that brought hail and about an inch of heavy rain but nothing happened to color up the river. Trout fishing has been good in the middle river as well as the upper Kenai and the upper Kasilof is getting better for silvers as well. Some spawning kings are rolling around in the upper Kasilof and the wildlife is putting on a show with brown bears and moose in the early mornings. A few rough days for halibut fishing this past week as far as water but the fish are nice and the action is steady. Still more time to catch some silvers, pinks, rainbows, dollies, halibut and we'll also start fishing down south, Oregon mostly, at the same time. Give us a call for current conditions or an up to the minute fishing report.
