Joseph Oregon elk hunting

2012 elk hunting Joseph Oregon this year was very good to those looking for that trophy bull. This was the 2nd year in a row for a very successful hunt for my brother in law Bryon.
After years of endless long days, wet, cold, and expensive week long trips, hes finally starting to show some results. Each time he would go there was a little learning lesson.
In this game we call elk hunting there is a very long learning curve. Elk are not stupid!
Most times the animals know we are there long before we even leave our camp to hunt. Noise, Smells, and some even think they just know what time of year it is? Not sure about that one, but no matter what elk are not shy about just up and disappearing when its there hunting season.
Bryon has try ed a number of items but believes in using scent free soaps, laundry and body. Vac seal clothes until your ready to hunt, and when you get back to camp seal them back up. Elk like every other living thing are also creatures of habit and that's where the long learning curve comes in.
Some of us have more time than others and can spent more time in the field learning these habits. If your time is limited you should devote your time to one unit. Hunt that unit year after year until you understand what the animals feeding, and sleeping habits are.
I leave Thanksgiving week on a cow hunt and am looking forward to using some of the tidbits of knowledge Bryon has given me. Good luck to all this year, Congratulations AGAIN Bryon!
