Oregon Coastal Elk

Hundreds of roads stretch along the Coast Range, and luckily many of them have gates on them. But behind those gates are thousands of acres that hold many Roosevelt elk. the only question is are you willing to cover the ground and tackle the terrain necessary to take one?

There are a couple of things you should never leave your truck without when hunting the Oregon Coast range.

1.) Gore-tex Rain is just part of the hunt here. dew-soaked limbs and ferns will drench you to the bone only a few steps into your hunt.
2.) GPS with extra battery's Once you head down some of these canyons, you may lose focus of any waypoints you had in mind. Back this up with a good compass and a map of the area you are going to hunt.
One of the most popular area's to hunt is the Saddle mountain unit. This unit has some of the biggest populations of large Bull Elk on the coast range. The only problem is its hard to see them, dense areas provide excellent cover for these monster Bull elk.
